We have a Mental Model of the World. We use this Mental Model to help us handle the “Reality” of the world.
For example, when we are driving a car, and we want to turn right at the next corner, we use Our Mental Model to precompute in which direction, and how much, we should turn the steering wheel as we approach the corner.
Any Mismatch between the precomputed action and the “Reality” – perhaps a pedestrian in the middle of the road – is instantly corrected by our ability to seamlessly adapt to the Current Reality.
When we are talking to someone about our “Problems” / our difficulties in handling a situation / our False Expectations / our Misconceptions about the outcome we expected – or have every right to expect – we completely forget about our incredible ability to seamlessly adapt to Reality – which is so natural to us when we are driving a car!
When we talk about our “Problems” we are merely talking about the Mismatch between Our Mental Model and the Reality we have encountered!
